QUICK TOOL SERIES

 

 

Rapid tooling and prototyping:

 

Many combinations of RJM zero VOC materials can be used to build high quality molds that can be ready for use the same day. You are limited only by your imagination.

 Normal Polyester systems get extremely hot during the cure- cycle, which results in shrink, cracking, and brittleness. This limits their use to thin sections or just use as a patching material. You would never dream of trying to build a tool or mold out of styrene containing polyesters.

 

 RJM zero VOC Polyester and Vinylester systems contain no styrene, which results in much easier to control systems. With this control we were able to formulate systems, which have extremely low shrink! Even sections up to two inches thick show very little shrink and no cracking!

 

RJM formulates systems in which the styrene monomer has been eliminated and replaced with a proprietary monomer. This results in a very tuff, impact resistant, low shrink material. RJM zero VOC systems can be used for parts as well as tooling and patching. The resulting tools and parts are high heat capable being able to withstand temperatures over 350 F.

 

RJM COMPOSITES is not only a formulated systems manufacturer-we also build our own tooling from our on materials and manufacture parts from them. We have built quick tools in the following manner.

 

  1. P-1 gel coat
  2. P-700 laminating resin with fiberglass cloth
  3. P- Synfoam 701S to built tuff light weight thickness
  4. P-700 laminating resin with fiberglass cloth
  5. A mild post-cure (about 120 F for 30 min)

 

With this system we can be up and running in a few hours.
